Dear Readers!
We have had 3 elections in the last 3 months in our country, Greece!
The first was local, regional and the European Parliament elections on May 26.
Secondly, the second round of elections in local administrations was held on June 2.
Third, there will be early general elections on July 7.
Under these circumstances, the only agenda in our country is the elections!
Therefore, our agenda is the same in Western Thrace.
As we are familiar with the previous elections, political parties promised to take votes of the electors at their rallies.
Turkish candidates from different political parties from the Greek majority who would participate at the general elections to be held this Sunday are touring the villages and conveying their promises. As the phrase is, vote hunting in the villages is ongoing.
Yes, you have heard well!
Vote hunt!
When we look at the social media accounts of the candidates, we see that each of them meets each evening with our people in many villages.
There's nothing wrong with that! And this is how it should be! Those who want to represent us at the Parliament should go from door to door and gain the trust of our people. The most effective way for this is to go to our people's door!
So far there is no problem!
But there is one important point. Candidates coming to our doors, looking into our eyes, making promises with an aspiration to get our votes before the elections should stand by their promises when they are elected. They should not forget their promises they have made; they must work to make them real with their heart and soul.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to say that this happened likewise in recent times!
Taking this opportunity, I wish success to all candidates in the elections. However, there is a specific reminder I would like make for them:
Remember, each vote you receive is also a vote for what is expected from you!
Remember, each vote you receive is the vote of your brothers and sisters living in the Turkish villages you visit today!
Again, remember that even if you forget, voters will not! For every promise you forget, every promise you don't try to fulfill, it's useless if you go from door to door in the elections four years later!
Because, both award and punishment are in the ballot box in politics!
Therefore, when you make promises and commitments, when you come up against the voters in the next elections, you should never forget that the questions „What have you done for us so far?”, “Which of the promises you fulfilled in the previous elections?” will be faced!
I wish that the elections be in the benefits for our country, region and people.
And, thanks to the upcoming summer holiday, I also wish everyone a good holiday.
Stay healthy.
Sincerely yours.
