Condemnation

A terrorist attack took place in Vienna, Austria, on Monday night, 2 November 2020 at 6 different locations. The attack which took place one day before the lockdown was set to be put in place as a result of increasing number of coronavirus cases took place in Vienna’s First District near a synagogue by long-barrelled assailants killed 3 civilians and 15 were injured including 7 seriously.  A Turkish teenager named Recep Tayyip Gültekin was also slightly injured in the attack.

Austrian Minister of the Interior Karl Nehammer reported that an assailant was shot dead as a result of the manhunt of the special unit whilst and an assailant fled. Minister Nehammer said there were several injured and dead. He asked citizens not to leave their homes unless it was mandatory and avoid central Vienna where the attack took place, demanding that children not be sent to schools.

Terror cannot be accepted under any circumstances, and never justified, it should be condemned in the most severe way by all. As the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), we strongly condemn the terrorist attack which struck Vienna. As the ABTTF Presidium and on behalf of the Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we present our condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a steady recovery to those injured in the attack.
