ABTTF President: “I hope that our Prime Minister has also received the message we gave with the votes we casted to the FEP Party in Rodopi and Xanthi. Indeed, as the Turkish community in Western Thrace, by making the FEP Party the first party in Rodopi and Xanthi on the map, we showed to the government and all political parties that it is not possible to ignore the Turkish community in our region’’.
The Prime Minister of our country Kyriakos Mitsotakis assessed the European Parliament elections in his speech at a conference of the Economist magazine.
Mitsotakis indicated that New Democracy received more than twice as many votes as the party that came second in the EP elections and that they showed that they were the dominant power. Admitting that his party could not reach the target of 33 per cent of the votes, Mitsotakis said that the citizens gave a message about the cost of living in the elections and that they received this message.
President of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) Halit Habip Oğlu made the following statement: “Prime Minister Mitsotakis says that as a result of the EP elections the people gave a message to the government about the cost of living and that they have received the people’s order for reform. I hope that our Prime Minister has also received the message we gave with our votes for the FEP Party in Rodopi and Xanthi. Indeed, as the Turkish community in Western Thrace, by making the FEP Party the first party in Rodopi and Xanthi on the map, we showed to the government and all political parties that it is not possible to ignore the Turkish community in our region. The ruling New Democracy should take our message seriously and take a step for a new beginning by putting an end to the state and government policy that ignores us in terms of the recognition of our existence and the restoration of our rights’’.
