ABTTF President: “We condemn in the strongest possible way the outrageous attack on the Muslim cemetery in the city of Iserlohn, and we demand that the perpetrators be caught and brought to justice as soon as possible and given the punishment they deserve.”
On the night of 1 January 2022, an attack was carried out on the Muslim cemetery in Iserlohn, Germany. Twenty cemeteries were destroyed in the attack, with headstones broken.
“As the representative of the Western Thrace Turks living in Europe and as ABTTF, we condemn in the strongest possible way the outrageous attack on the Muslim cemetery in the city of Iserlohn, and we demand that the perpetrators be caught and brought to justice as soon as possible and given the punishment they deserve. This hate-based attack on New Year’s Eve is a new example of Islamophobia, which has been on the rise in Europe in recent years. We call on the German authorities to take all the necessary measures to prevent such attacks from happening again which damage the culture of peaceful co-existence in Germany”, said Halit Habip Oğlu, President of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF).
