EU MP Yannis Lagos, who left the racist Golden Dawn Party in July 2019, yesterday ripped the Turkish flag at a session of the European Parliament which was related to the plight of migrants and refugees on the Greek islands and said, "This is all that it deserves, nothing else. Let the Turks come out and we will end our dealings with them," he said.
The Greek Foreign Ministry issued a written statement about this action by Lagos:
‘Greece condemns in the most categorical manner any act of insulting a national symbol and in this case the national symbol of Turkey.
The unacceptable actions of the representatives of neo-Nazism are a departure from Greek and European traditions and are an attempt to attract attention to Golden Dawn, which is on trial, and which Greek society has pushed out of Parliament with its vote.
Neo-Nazis speak only for themselves’.
