FUEN and YEN jointly call for solidarity with refugees flowing into the European Union

FUEN and YEN: Flow of refugees requires serious and consequent efforts towards creating peace

The Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) of which the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) is also a regular member and the Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) with the Young ABTTF as a member organization under its umbrella expressed through a joint press release from 18 September 2015 their solidarity with refugees currently flowing to the member states of the European Union, in particular to Germany.

FUEN and YEN stated in their joint press release the current flow of refugees is a situation to be to be solved by the European society as a whole and requires solidarity and help from all European states. The FUEN Presidium to which ABTTF President Halit Habip Oğlu as Vice-President representing the Turkish minority of Western Thrace in Greece also belongs underlined the solidarity being shown by FUEN’s member organisations like ABTTF is impressive and should undoubtedly be maintained, saying: “A strong humanitarian effort is imperative and local action is key in order to guarantee respect for human dignity. We demand from European politicians that they take serious and resolute measures to arrive at lasting peaceful solutions.”
