As the representative of the Western Thrace Turks living in Europe and as the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe(ABTTF), we call on all Western Thrace Turks who have the right to vote living inside and outside our country to vote in the EP elections to be held in our country on 9 June in order to make the presence of our community be stronger in our country Greece and in Europe, to make our voice and demands heard more strongly by being directly involved in the decision-making mechanisms in European politics, and to protect our future! Our votes in the EP elections are for our political party, the FEP Party!
The European Parliament (EP) elections will be held in Greece on Sunday, 9 June 2024. The new owners of the 21 seats allocated to Greece in the EP will be determined in the EP elections, where political party lists will compete, and voters can vote directly for candidates.
The Court of Cassation (Arios Pagos) announced the parties that will participate in the EP elections on Wednesday, 24 April. It was reported that 46 political parties from across Greece applied for the EP elections. The Court of Cassation approved 31 of the political parties that applied.
The Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party, the sole political party of the Turkish community in Western Thrace, will participate in the EP elections on 9 June, as it did in 2014 and 2019.
For the first time in the EP elections in Greece, Greek citizens aged 17 and over living both at home and abroad will be able to vote by mail. There will be no separate ballot boxes at Greek diplomatic missions for Greek citizens living abroad.
The FEP Party, the political representative of the Turkish community in Western Thrace, which will participate in the EP elections to be held on Sunday, 9 June, launched its election campaign in the village of Şahin (Echinos) in the prefecture of Xanthi on the evening of Thursday, 25 April.
By saying ‘‘We are here!’’, the FEP Party intends to make history once again in our country and in Europe through its participation in the EP elections which it will be for the third time, and to strongly express the voice and demands of the Turkish community in Western Thrace throughout Europe and aims to convey the message that ‘‘we exist and we are Turks!’’ to all those who deny our existence in our country.
