On Sunday, 3 September 2023, the Turkish cemetery in Polianthos (Narlıköy) in the prefecture of Rodopi in Western Thrace was attacked by an unidentified person or persons, and twenty gravestones were destroyed in the attack. Police launched an investigation into the attack.
As the Presidium of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), we strongly condemn the disgusting attack on the Turkish cemetery in Polianthos (Narlıköy). The attack on our cemetery is an attack on the Turkish community in Western Thrace and our faith. We demand that this heinous attack be investigated by the competent authorities and the perpetrators be caught and brought to justice.
