As ABTTF, we sincerely congratulate Mustafa Trampa, who has been elected as the new mufti of Xanthi and wish him outstanding success in this important duty that we believe he will fulfil properly, and we offer him our support.
The Turkish community in Western Thrace held elections during Friday prayers on 9 September 2022, using its treaty right for the office of mufti, which became vacant after the passing of the Mufti of Xanthi Ahmet Mete on 14 July 2022.
A total of 7320 votes were cast in the mufti election, which was held in 83 mosques across the province of Xanthi and in which Mustafa Trampa, Director of the Education Branch of the Mufti Office of Xanthi, and Mustafa Kamo, Personnel Director of the Mufti Office of Xanthi, were candidates. Mustafa Trampa, who received 4750 of the votes in the election, was elected as the new mufti of Xanthi. The other candidate, Mustafa Kamo, received 2570 of the votes.
As the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), representing the Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we sincerely congratulate Mustafa Trampa, who was elected as the new mufti of Xanthi by receiving the majority of the votes in the election, and wish him outstanding success in this important duty that we believe he will fulfil properly, and we offer him our support.
At this occasion, we reiterate our call for our country Greece to urgently correct the unilateral practices it has so far implemented on the issue of the mufti offices, ignoring the treaties to which it is a party, and to bring a solution to the issue in direct dialogue and consultation with the Turkish community in Western Thrace.
