The response of the policy of expropriation continues

The response of the resolution of the municipal council of Komotini about the enforced expropriation of some properties on the pretext of “instructions of urban planning” continues. As already known, within this scope it is planned to expropriate by demolition a part of the boarding school of the grammar school Celal Bayar, which is property of the foundation.

As everybody knows the properties of the Turkish minority of Western Thrace were guaranteed by the treaties of Athens (1913) and Lausanne (1923), which have also been signed by Greece. The grammar school Celal Bayar has contributed to the reinforcement of the Turkish-Greek friendship since 1952. The expropriation of its boarding school by the administration of the foundation, which has not been accepted by the minority, does not correspond to international law.

In the name of the minority important decisions are taken arbitrarily by the administration of the foundation. The administration did not inform the minority about the resolution and did not take the required legal measures in time. Thereaction of the international public against these attempts of Greece, a member of the EU, still remains to be seen.

In the connection with the attempts of expropriation, the leader of the foundation has to resign immediately. In order to determine the leading persons by the minority a new election has become a condition.

The resolution will be right, if the government announces the soon coming election and this chaotic situation will finally be terminated.
