Minority Members meet at Ramadan dinners

Western Thrace Turkish minority members meet at Ramadan dinners this year. Minority members have the opportunity to strengthen their solidarity and to live their tradition via these dinners. Additionally, heads of Western Thrace Associations meet at these dinners and talk about the minority problems.

Recently, representatives from Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) participated two Ramadan dinner and had the opportunity to meet minority members. First dinner was organized by Bonn Western Thrace Turkish Minority Association on 22 September. Halit Habipoglu, chairman of ABTTF, conveyed information about the activities of ABTTF on international platforms. Habipoglu especially thanked Bonn Western Thrace Minority Association’s Women Branch for their efforts and self-sacrifice. “Our women work very hard to strengthen the solidarity among minority women and we appreciate their effort with all our heart and thank them so much for their self-sacrifice. Meanwhile, I would like to thank Bonn Association for their success in sport activities.” said Habipoglu.

Another Ramadan Dinner at Gütersloh

Ozkan Resit, General Secretary of ABTTF, represented ABTTF at the Ramadan dinner organized by Gütersloh Western Thrace Turkish Minority Culture and Family Association. Nearly thousand minority member met at dinner and had to opportunity to live Turkish tradition. Resit made a speech and said ABTTF hoped to maintain solidarity and cooperation among minority members. General election was the main issue on the agenda during the dinner. Resit underlined that it was a great success to heve 2 MPs at the Parliament and it was minority members’ duty to support them. “We congrulate Güteloh Association to give us the opportunity to meet our brothers, sisters at such a happy dinner.

Other than Bonn and Güterloh associations, other minority Associations expressed their intention to organize Ramadan Dinners during month of Ramadan.
